There is no one pick and pack method that is more efficient than others. Some clients may find batch picking to be most effective, while others may prefer zone picking. The most popular include piece picking, batch picking, wave picking and zone picking. Legacy supports all of these picking methods, as well as custom picking for clients who have unique picking requirements.

Pick and pack — also known as pick, pack, ship — is a fulfillment method in which workers pick items from warehouse shelves and package them individually. It differs from traditional order fulfillment in that orders are packaged for shipment and delivery onsite at a warehouse rather than being sent to a distribution center.

From our nationwide network of warehouses and our Tier 1 Warehouse Management System, to our highly trained staff and advanced warehouse automations, we have the dedicated infrastructure in place to handle a high volume of returns and scale operations up or down as needed — all while powering efficiency and mitigating operational and shipping costs.

Though this varies depending on each client’s needs, a 72-hour disposition agreement is standard.

Although we work with each individual client to tailor our reverse logistics solutions to their particular business model and specifications, our general process is as follows:

  • A return arrives at our warehouse, where it’s unloaded and matched to our system for authorization.
  • From there, we perform a quality control check to look for defects and determine whether the item is restockable.
  • If the item is restockable, we enter it back into our system, stage it for putaway and return it to inventory.
  • If the item is not restockable, we process it according to the agreement we’ve established with that client; in most cases, the item is either repaired or disposed of.
