Cloud-Based Software Enables Logistics Company to Transform Customer Services, Reduce Costs by 50%

Reno, Nevada | January 26, 2018 — World-leading software company Microsoft has highlighted LEGACY Supply Chain Services in a feature story focused on the benefits of migrating business processes and workflows to the cloud.

The case study, published in Microsoft’s “Customer Stories” section, discusses why LEGACY replaced traditional EDI document processes that govern workflows and customer communications with Microsoft Azure Logic Apps.

“Instead of manually administering complex, costly EDI solutions, we’re using Logic Apps workflows to onboard customers 70 percent faster and cut costs by 50 percent — a huge competitive advantage,” Jim Heidegger, LEGACY’s Vice President of Information Technology, said in the story.

To achieve scalability and connectivity across LEGACY’s warehousing and transportation network, a single Microsoft Azure cloud-based instance was deployed to replace 16 disparate on-premises EDI solutions. The result: LEGACY was able to reduce transaction mapping and implementation costs by 80 to 90%, accelerate its time to implement and deploy new EDI documents by 75% – directly removing cost from their customer operations. The solution also drives strategic advantage — by providing better insight into customer supply chain trends, enhancing communications, and increasing security with Azure built-in security and operations management services.

Moving to Microsoft’s Azure platform helped establish a new paradigm for efficiency in the logistics industry, according to the case study.

“We’re trusting our business-critical data flows to Azure based on the rock-solid experience we’ve had with Microsoft,” Heidegger said. “And as part of our digital transformation, we expect new Azure services will continue to help us differentiate LEGACY in the market.”

LEGACY depends on innovative tech solutions like Azure to improve warehousing and transportation services, but also to stay ahead of the curve in the third-party logistics industry.
